Class
Descriptions

01

Foundation

AGE: Over 3 months
Prerequisite: none

This is an introductory class for dogs new to agility. The focus is on building engagement, drive and motivation in distracting environments through positive reinforcement strategies. Dogs will “learn how to learn” through body awareness and other exercises that will set them for success in their agility career. This class is appropriate for new agility teams and dogs three months and up.

02

Intro to Equipment

AGE: Over 10 months
Prerequisite: Foundation or Instructor Approval

This class introduces dogs to all agility equipment, with a focus on contacts and weaves, and types of jumping efforts. Towards the end of the course short sequences and handling concepts will also be introduced. This class is appropriate for dogs that can work off leash around distractions and are 10 months or older.

03

Intro to Sequencing

AGE: Over 14 months
Prerequisite: Intro to Equipment or Instructor Approval

This class introduces the concept of working through sequences and various drills. There will be a heavy focus on building understanding and skill regarding handling concepts and choices. This class is appropriate for dogs that are familiar with all the agility equipment and are at least 14 months of age.

04

Pre-Competition

AGE: Over 14 months
Prerequisite: Intro to Sequencing, Six Weave Poles or Instructor Approval

This class focuses on working through full courses, introducing various agility games, and understanding how to maximize the skills you and your dog have as a team on course, while continuing to build on areas of weakness. This class is appropriate for dogs who can already complete six straight weave poles and are at least 14 months of age.

05

Competition

AGE: Over 15 months
Prerequisite: Pre-Competition, 12 Weaves Poles, or Instructor Approval

This class focuses on working through increasingly complex courses. It is appropriate for dogs who can complete 12 straight weave poles and are at least 15 months for age.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is very common to repeat classes at the same level multiple times before moving on to the next level.

COST: Classes run 6 weeks for $200.
